our approach

Life doesn’t come with an instruction manual, and just to make things more interesting, it likes to occasionally throw us a few curve balls to remind us of that.

The truth is, growing up we learn more about how to fit in, avoid things, or push against discomfort than to be with it, learn from it, and move safely towards and through it. For many of us, this experience of wellbeing wasn’t taught at school, seldom demonstrated in our families of origin, and yet is essential in understanding the relationships we have with ourselves, and with those around us.

Often we are challenged to conquer our fears, overcome anxiety, or defeat depression.. yet what if there was an alternative approach that sort to bring harmony to our inner world instead of further discrimination? In Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, all parts of us are welcome. It is through the support, rather than the silencing or submission, of our parts that wholeness and healing can take place.

All of our therapy utilises IFS as its core framework.

internal family systems (IFS)

Many of us can relate to having a part (or parts) of ourselves that we wish would go away. However, our parts are inherently good, often just carrying burdens or stuck in roles that lead to our experiences of internal struggle. IFS provides a map of the process required to unburden our inner world in a way that is intuitive, respectful, and compassionate.

IFS is a non-pathologising, powerfully transformative, evidence-based model of psychotherapy that represents a refreshing paradigm shift in the way we conceptualise psychological wellbeing. IFS views each of us as already having access to all the psychological and emotional capital required for our desired growth. As such, clients of IFS therapy often describe experiences of “coming home to myself” and feelings of expanded connectedness with those around them.

Our approach at On Point Therapy is founded on the premise that there is no such thing as one-size-fits-all. Whether you know exactly what the concern is or just feel like something is a bit off, each session is co-created in real-time to explore wherever you are at in that very moment.

Although at times the process can be confronting, we walk it together, and at a pace that works for you.

All that is required on your part is that you turn up and be open to seeing things from a different perspective.
